Kim Barbolla, D.O. is starting a new chapter in her medical career by opening East Texas Precision Medicine in Marshall Texas.

Dr. Barbolla started her academic career as the first person to enter the B.A./D.O. program through the University of North Texas and the University of North Texas Health Science Center/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. Having first receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, Magna Cum Laude in 1995, Dr. Barbolla went on to graduate with a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of North Texas/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998. Following medical school, Dr. Barbolla completed both her Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas in Fort Worth completing this in 2001. During her final year of residency, she was appointed Chief Resident.

Following residency, Dr. Barbolla started her career as an Internal Medicine physician with Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall, Texas. This continued with Good Shepherd Medical Center and subsequently Christus Trinity Clinic as the hospital was sold. During her tenure in Marshall, Dr. Barbolla has served as Chief of Staff from 2005 to 2007 and multiple terms as Chief of Medicine and Chief of Cardiopulmonary Department. In 2005, Dr. Barbolla was honored by becoming a Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Internists.

Following the death of her mother in 2005, Dr. Barbolla developed an interest in Hospice. This interest has led her to serve as Medical Director for hospice. As a result, she became the medical director for Heartsway Hospice before moving to Marshall Hospice where she continues as Medical Director. In 2013, Dr. Barbolla, completed a second Board Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine by the American College of Osteopathic Internists.

Expanding on her interest in geriatric medicine, Dr. Barbolla serves as Medical Director at Heritage House Nursing and Rehab facility in Marshall and Magnolia Place Nursing Home in Jefferson, Texas.

In her free time, Dr. Barbolla enjoys spending time with her husband, seven children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Dr. Barbolla is an avid dog lover and has many fur babies. Dr Barbolla also serves as the team doctor for the Marshall Big Red Pride Marching Band and is very involved with her daughter’s Colorguard Team attending all of the competitions and serving as Treasurer for the Marshall Association of Colorguard Supporters. She is also very involved with the Marshall Symphony League and serves as the Chairman for Citywide Bunco which is one of the leagues major fundraising projects each year. When not involved with family or work activities, you can often find Dr. Barbolla riding her Harley Davidson trike, cruising the lake in a boat or relaxing with her toes in the sand reading a good book on a beach.
